Overview
Design of bridges to resist earthquake loading is based on PBD which was evolved with the notion to protect the public from structures collapse. This concept leads to high level of damage that the structures suffer in the aftermath. Smart Memory Alloys are introduced as materials that satisfy the requirements of the PBD while mitigating the resulting damage.
